Limestone takes millions of years to form and millions more to metamorphose

into marble, the most highly prized medium for architectural features and

sculpture for millennia.

The marbles used in our Metamorphic collection are from Spain, Italy, Turkey

and Greece. They include the violet hues of Anatolian Lilac, the monochromatic

palette of Nero Marquina, the soft grey and white translucence of Macedonian

Volakas and the vibrant and random striations of Italian Arabescato.

Each individual block of marble removed from the earth is diff erent. Its colour

and veining will never be exactly replicated. Any object that is crafted from this

oldest of natural materials will be completely unique.

Which is why we invite you to choose your own fi re surround from our ever

changing portfolio of stock to ensure that you can best enjoy one of the most

important features to grace your home.

A COLLECTION OF MARBLE FIRE SURROUNDS

ARABESCATO

One of the most well known and widely used of all Italian marbles, Arabescato has a palette of

ivory as a background to strong veining that ranges from dusty to dark grey. Arabescato is

quarried in the Apuan Alps in the heartland of marble production, Carrara, in Northern Italy.

Taking its inspiration from the late 17th century bolection profi le that Sir Christopher Wren borrowed

from Italian architecture, The Alderney is shown in vibrantly veined Arabescato marble from Carrara.

THE ALDERNEY

A striking monochromatic material, Nero Marquina takes its name from the small mountain

town of Markina in the Basque Country of northern Spain, where it is quarried.

Nero Marquina is in fact a Limestone rather than a marble. It has a dark black background

against which an abundance of strong white veining is seen when the face of the material is

highly polished and lends itself to both traditional and contemporary interiors.

NERO MARQUINA

Seen here in Nero Marquina marble, The Scarpa has the elegance of an Art Deco design

and features deeply curved concave ingrounds framing the opening to the fire chamber.

LILAC

Lilac is a calcite marble with a translucent white base that is the background to strong and

randomly distributed veining moving in colour between violet, lilac and black.

The appearance of each block varies hugely so the ability to select from our portfolio of

fi nished stock is essential. Lilac marble is quarried in the Mugla region of South West Turkey

bordering the Aegean Sea.

The Milo is a fi re surround of substantial proportions that features an elegant bolection moulded

frame elevated above canted block feet. Shown here in Lilac marble from Antalya in Turkey.

THE MILO

The Volakas quarries are located in Macedonia in northern Greece on the wooded slopes by mount

Falkiri, which sits above the ancient city of Drama. The marble has a milky white background and

displays light veining in soft grey and mushroom hues, making it a suitable choice for most interiors.

VOLAKAS

C H E S N E YS

The Manhattan displays a simple architectural form that is the perfect canvas for all of the beautiful

materials in the Metamorphic collection. Shown here in Macedonian Volakas marble.

THE MANHATTAN
